We do own some of these instruments, but they are sitting in a drawer somewhere, in a sterilization pouch, covered in dust. I remember when we stopped using them altogether- I believe it was before the 2014 study cited in the article, and as I recall, we made the change less because of empirical evidence and more because of an intuitive belief that they seemed unpleasant. I also remember hearing about that study and being excited that there was some support for our touchy-feely conclusion.
