Pancreatitis is a disease humans CAN develop, but it's very, very common in dogs and cats, and it's a bit of a mystery to most pet owners. In fact, I would say that in no small number of cases, the panicked text messages we receive from out out-of-town friends with pets ("Fluffy ate a cake off the counter a few days ago and now she's not eating and she's all hunched over when she stands!") are the result of a bout of pancreatitis.
