You can read my comment at the bottom of the second image ("That's actually genuinely terrifying"), and it is! We generally think of rabies as something that is a very remote threat, but it is definitely still around, even in New Mexico. We take precautions when we handle patients we believe are carrying zoonotic diseases (like rabies, plague, tularemia, and ringworm), but obviously the protective equipment isn't foolproof.
