Dr. Maggie Jones
Maggie Jones is a military brat, turned New Mexico native in 2002. She earned a BS in Animal Science from Texas Tech University and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Colorado State University. Prior to joining the team at Smith Veterinary Hospital, Dr. Jones did a small animal medicine and surgery rotating internship at the Veterinary Specialty Center of Tucson. It was there that Dr. Jones discovered a passion for wound care, soft tissue surgery, and pain management.
Although she now enjoys promoting the human-animal bond through treatment of household pets, Dr. Jones originally developed an interest in veterinary medicine through her work with the Albuquerque Biopark, New England Aquarium, Georgia Aquarium, AQUAVET (through Cornell University), and Dolphinaris.
When not at work, she enjoys needlework of all kinds (knitting, crochet, cross stitch, etc.) and getting outdoors through hiking or snowboarding. Dr. Jones also volunteers with the Homeless Teen Shelter and is a member of her church choir.
